Group info:

Fine motor skills guide the small movements of the hand and fingers that allow a child to write and draw, as well as manipulate buttons, zips or scissors.

When these skills are under-developed, the results can include reduced independence, school performance and self-confidence.

This small group will work on your child’s everyday skills like:

  • Self-care tasks (e.g. clothing fastenings, opening lunch boxes, cleaning teeth, using cutlery);
  • Academic skills (e.g. pencil skills of drawing, writing and colouring, as well as cutting and pasting).

Dates: Fridays at 16:00 -17:00 starting Friday 9th February until 16th March 2018.

Eligibility criteria: Boys and girls aged 6-8; Adequate amount of verbal ability.

"Mighty Muscles" group

Kids aged 7-10 years, six 1-hour sessions: €120 total.

If the child has not been assessed by an OT in the past an initial group screen will be arranged prior to commencing the group. Group sessions plus screening: €140.

Group info:

This group is designed to work on core strength and stability. When core strength is an area of weakness it can make it difficult to balance, perform coordinated movements on both sides of the body, sit up straight in a chair, hold a pencil, control scissors or jump.

Benefits of working on core strength:

  • Good core stability will help your child to maintain a good sitting posture at the desk and will help develop a stable, supportive base for gross motor and fine motor movements;
  • Developing core strength will work on your child’s overall endurance with fine and gross motor tasks;
  • It will have a positive impact on your child’s balance and coordination.

Dates: Wednesday 4 pm to 5 pm starting Wednesday 14th February until 21st March 2018.

Eligibility criteria: Boys and girls aged 7-10; Adequate amount of verbal ability.
